The Real Work of Loving Yourself | How to Practise Real, Transformational Self-love

(Spoiler: it’s not just putting on a 10-minute face mask)

Hello you

Welcome back, beautiful humans.

Whether you’ve been journeying with us for a while or this is your very first time exploring one of these little love letters, I’m so glad you’re here.

If you’re reading this, then you’re already showing love for yourself.
Because to pause, even briefly, and reflect on how you're living, feeling, and being... that is an act of care. That’s self-love.

Love is an action, never simply a feeling.

Bell Hooks

Loving yourself involves choosing to honour the life you’ve been given, by exploring what it means to feel more whole. You don’t need to strive to be some ‘ideal’ version of you, because the best version of you is the one who is in love with life itself and is an active player in it.

The relationship we have with ourselves has to be looked after and nurtured; it is the most important one we’ll ever have.

The way we love ourselves now is not the same as five or twenty years ago, because we have changed. And the way we see ourselves evolves too; it changes, grows, breathes.

Here I’ll be sharing 10 Ways to Practise Transformational Self-Love and ways in which we can love ourselves in the way we love others (which can sometimes feel easier…)❤️

What does self-love look like exactly?

Or maybe the best word is actually ‘feel’. What does self-love feel like?

Self-love feels like safety, like a home base, a place where your nervous system is at peace and you can just be you.

Self-love brings out the best in you; it polishes your inner golden light so it shines brightly for you and those around you.

Self-love extends into the orbit around your very being, casting light upon others and into the shadows. People who love themselves don’t look to darken anyone else's light; they are interested only in celebrating, magnifying and multiplying the light they see all around them.

They are lighthouses.
