Why Trying to Have Your Cake and Eat It Can Leave You Hungry

Hey lovely humans,
So here we are, a third of the way through our 12-week journey, and with just 10 weeks left in 2025, I want to ask you:
What if it works out?
Some of you have reached out to share where you're at in your journey, and one theme has really stood out: the trepidation that comes when things actually start to shift.
It’s that moment when your grip on the old branch starts to loosen, and you’re reaching for the next one, but you’re not quite sure if it will hold you.
(You’re with me on the monkey-swinging-through-the-jungle visual, right?)
I get it. I’ve felt it too.
Where’s the safety net?
What if this next branch isn’t strong enough to carry my weight?
But that’s exactly what makes this moment so transformative.
Because reaching for something new, while not fully certain what will catch you, is the moment you become someone who won’t go backwards.
Growth begins where comfort ends.
If you’re just joining this journey, you’re not late! Today is the next best time after yesterday.
You might like to look back at the earlier letters to help you find your footing.
What could shift if you stopped holding back?
If you didn’t just dip a toe in, but actually immersed yourself?
We only get to live one life at a time.
And every day, we choose where to invest our time, energy, money, and presence.
That can feel risky. Cue the fear of making the wrong decision, missing out, or realising too late that we ‘wasted’ an opportunity.
But trying to hedge our bets often means nothing gets our full attention. In order for something meaningful to flourish, it requires a level of commitment and focus.
It’s like trying to keep all your romantic options open, never really committing to one relationship, always wondering if there’s something better just around the corner. You might feel safer or more protected... but you’ll likely feel unfulfilled.
The same applies to your goals.
Whether it’s your health, your creative expression, your career or a new relationship; if you’re half in, half out, you’ll never really know what could’ve been possible.
Try this instead:
Fully choose. Commit with intention.
A reminder: Choices which make us feel like we’re contracting, shrinking or shutting down are not taking us towards growth.
If, when you lean into a new way of being or doing, you feel a sense of expansion and opening up, you’re on the right path. Trust that.
You’re moving towards the person you want to be.
Do it for future you.
Clarity often arrives after the leap, not before.
